I used to have things organized in my house. I like things organized; however, in the past 6 months chaos and clutter have taken over. I think it is time I go back to my FlyLady plan (haven’t used that in 18 months). So when I came home from Dover (took Lindsey to catch the bus to Logan) I decided it was time to clean out the chest freezer in the garage. (I really want to replace it with an upright, but that will have to wait for a bit.) Before I headed to the garage I checked my RSS feeds and found information about the Eat From the Pantry Challenge over at Money Saving Mom.com. I downloaded the Freezer Inventory spreadsheet from Once a Month Mom and used that to make my list for the 2 refrigerator freezers and the chest freezer. It took about 1-1/2 hours to go through the freezers and then 1/2 an hour to rearrange the spreadsheet to suit my needs. It feels SO good to have that done. John is going to put more shelving in the laundry room for me. Once that is done I am going to do a Pantry inventory too. I know we have food in the house (staples at least) and if I get a handle on what is here I can cook for probably a month without buying much at the store. I am going to try and find some recipes on the $5 Dinner Mom and use my new crockpot cookbook Make it Fast, Cook it Slow from A Year of Slow Cooking. That’s my plan; I’ll let you know how it goes. Let me know if you decide to join me (and many others) on the Eat From the Pantry Challenge.
